Privacy Policy
SentenSearch (“SentenSearch”, “we”, “us”) is an iPhone app for learning English words inside real example sentences. This policy explains what the app collects, why, who processes it on our behalf and what you can ask us to do with it. It applies to the SentenSearch iOS app and this website.
1. No sign-up, no personal identity required
You do not create an account, and we never ask for your name, email address or phone number. When you first open the app it creates an anonymous account on our backend so that your score, saved sentences and settings survive across sessions. That account is identified by a random identifier — it is not linked to your Apple ID, your email or any real-world identity.
You can optionally choose a username, a country and an avatar so you can appear on the leaderboard. That is the only information other users can see, and it is entirely your choice.

We do not collect your location, your contacts, your photos, your microphone or your camera. We do not show ads and we do not track you across other apps or websites; the app does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission because it does not do that.
3. Artificial intelligence features
Two features use a third-party AI service (OpenAI): the word assistant and the sentence-building exercise. When you use them, the word you are learning — and, in the assistant, the word you typed — is sent to OpenAI so that an explanation or an example sentence can be generated. The result is returned to the app and shown to you.
Your username, country, score and contact details are not sent with these requests. OpenAI processes the request as our service provider; under their API terms, data submitted through the API is not used to train their models. Please avoid typing personal or sensitive information into the assistant — it is meant for single English words.
AI output can be wrong. Explanations and generated sentences are learning material, not authoritative reference.
4. Why we are allowed to process it
- To provide the app you asked for (performance of a contract) — your account, your lists, your score, your subscription.
- Our legitimate interest — keeping the service reliable and secure (for example rate limits that stop abuse), understanding aggregate usage, and fixing crashes.
- Your choice — the profile you create for the leaderboard exists only because you chose to create it, and you can remove it at any time.
5. Who else processes your data
- Supabase — database and anonymous authentication for your account and learning data.
- Google Firebase — analytics, crash reporting and a record of app/device information.
- RevenueCat — subscription management on top of Apple’s systems.
- Apple — the App Store handles every payment. We never see your card details, and we do not receive your Apple ID.
- OpenAI — generates the AI explanations and practice sentences described above.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
6. International transfers
These providers operate servers outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union. Where transfers are subject to GDPR or Turkish data protection law (KVKK), they rely on the providers’ standard contractual clauses and equivalent safeguards.
7. How long we keep it
Account and learning data is kept while your anonymous account exists, so that your progress is still there the next time you open the app. Aggregate counters (such as how often a word was searched) and anonymous statistics are kept indefinitely because they no longer identify anyone. Analytics and crash data follow the retention periods of Firebase. If you ask us to delete your data, see the Delete your data section.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority. In Türkiye these rights are set out in Article 11 of the KVKK; in the EU/UK, in the GDPR.
Because accounts are anonymous, we may need information from you — such as the user ID shown in the app’s settings — to find the right records. Write to sentencesearchapp@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
9. Children
SentenSearch is a general-audience learning app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will remove it.
10. Security
Traffic between the app and our backend is encrypted in transit. Database access is restricted by row-level security rules so that an account can only read and write its own records, and write operations are rate limited. No system is perfectly secure, but we try to collect as little as possible in the first place — which is why there is no sign-up.
11. Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will note it in the app’s release notes.

Terms of Use
These terms are an agreement between you and SentenSearch about your use of the SentenSearch iPhone app and this website. By using the app, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.
1. What the app does
SentenSearch lets you search English words and read them inside example sentences with translations, ask an AI assistant about a word, practice building sentences, take grammar and vocabulary quizzes, and compare your score with other users. We may add, change or remove features over time.
2. Your account
The app creates an anonymous account for you automatically; there is nothing to register. If you choose a username, it becomes visible to other users on the leaderboard. You agree not to choose a username that is offensive, impersonates someone else, advertises something, or infringes anyone’s rights. We may remove or reset such a username without notice.
A username can be changed once every 30 days. Your first username does not count as a change. You can reset your username from the app’s settings at any time, which also removes you from the leaderboard.
3. Free use and limits
The app is free to use. Free accounts see the first three sentences of each search and receive a limited, one-time allowance of AI uses shared between the word assistant and the sentence-building exercise. These limits are part of the free tier, may change, and are not a promise of a specific number of uses.
4. Subscriptions
- SentenSearch Pro is an auto-renewing subscription offered in weekly and yearly plans.
- The price is shown in the app, in your local currency, before you confirm.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- You manage and cancel subscriptions in the Settings app: your name → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused part of it is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store terms; we cannot issue them ourselves.
5. AI-generated content
Explanations and practice sentences produced by the AI features are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable for a given context. They are study material, not professional or academic advice, and you should verify anything that matters. You are responsible for what you type into the assistant.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- attempt to access accounts, data or systems that are not yours;
- send automated or bulk requests to our backend, or work around rate limits;
- reverse engineer, decompile or tamper with the app, except where the law allows it;
- scrape or republish the sentence collection as a dataset or competing service;
- use the app to produce unlawful, hateful or abusive content.
7. Content and intellectual property
The app, its design, its interface and the sentence collection are protected by intellectual property law and remain ours or our licensors’. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own learning. What you create inside the app — your saved sentences, your lists — stays yours; we store it only to provide the service.
8. Third-party services
The app relies on Apple, Supabase, Google Firebase, RevenueCat and OpenAI. Their own terms apply to their parts of the service, and their availability is outside our control.
9. No warranty
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that sentences, translations and AI output will be accurate. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all implied warranties.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
11. Ending your use
You may stop using the app at any time and ask us to delete your data. We may suspend or end access to accounts that breach these terms or that put the service at risk.
12. Apple
Apple is not a party to these terms and has no responsibility for the app. Apple has no obligation to provide support for it. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows the current version, and continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard to conflict of law rules, and the courts of Türkiye have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence.
15. Contact
Delete your data
SentenSearch has no sign-up, so there is no login to close. Here is what you can do yourself and what we can do for you.
Remove yourself from the leaderboard
Open Settings → Reset my username in the app. Your username is deleted from our servers and you disappear from the leaderboard. Your saved sentences and your score stay on the device’s anonymous account so you can keep learning.
Delete everything
Write to sentencesearchapp@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my data” and include the user ID shown in the app’s settings screen, so we can find the right account. We delete the account and everything attached to it — profile, sentences, words, quiz results and score — within 30 days, and confirm by email.
Two things survive: aggregate counters that no longer identify anyone (for example how many times a word was searched in total), and records we are legally required to keep, such as Apple’s purchase records, which are held by Apple and not by us.
Cancel your subscription first
Deleting your data does not cancel an active subscription — Apple handles billing separately. Cancel it in the Settings app under your name → Subscriptions, otherwise it keeps renewing.
Deleting the app
Removing the app from your iPhone deletes what is stored on the device, but not the anonymous account on our servers. Use the email above if you want that gone too.
